VIDEO: Pharaohs abroad weekend recap
King Fut recap the Egyptians who featured for their overseas clubs during this weekend of football prior to the international break.
Elmo started in place of one of Hull City’s best players, Liam Rosenior, but he was hardly missed after Elmo put in an impressive performance for the Tigers. Elmo put in a few excellent crosses, and played a part in the Hull’s third goal, where he played a good ball over the top for Jay Simpson to run onto and square to new signing Stephen Quinn. Sone Aluko and Abdoulaye Faye were the other goal scorers for Hull following Chris Eagles’ opener for Bolton – a deflected free-kick.
The Tigers are now fifth in the Championship table going into the international break – where Elmohamady has been included in the Pharaohs squad to face Benin and Cameroon on September 7th and 11th respectively.
Brighton & Hove Albion continued their good start to the season securing a well-deserved 3 points against Burnley after a double from Craig Mackail-Smith while captain Gordon Greer scored twice – both for and against his team. Egyptian international Adam El-Abd, who made his 300th appearance for the club last weekend, played the full 90 minutes at centre-back for Brighton. He had a solid display and was cool and effective throught the match infront of a partisan home crowd.
The win moved Brighton up to fourth in the Championship and the Seagulls will host Sheffield Wednesday next after the international break – where El-Abd has been called up to the Egypt squad by Bob Bradley to face Benin and Cameroon.

Mido is still recovering from his hamstring injury, but his club Barnsley managed to win 1-0 against Bristol City thanks to a header from Jacob Mellis five minutes after the interval. Barnsley played almost all the second half with 10-players after Bobby Hassell was dismissed 6 minutes into the second half. After this impressive win, Barnsley will be in elated mood when they host Blackpool in the middle of the month.
Mido has his sights set on returning against Blackpool, the international break will hopefully give him enough time to recover.

Egypt Olympic centre-back Ahmed Hegazy was was again included in Fiorentina’s squad that faced Napoli in Seria A but for the third consecutive time, Hegazy remained an unused sub as his side lost to Napoli 2-1 in the Stadio San Paolo in Naples. Fiorentina will be hosting Catania in their next Serie A fixture on September 15th.
Hegazy made his debut for Fiorentina playing 30 minutes in a friendly against Viareggio, but has yet to make his official debut for the Viola.
Hegazy will now head to Egypt to meet up with the squad that will face Benin and Cameroon this week.
FC Basel continued their slump in form by only drawing 0-0 at home with FC Zürich. It was FC Basel’s first time avoiding defeat since losing twice against CFR Cluj in the Champions League and to St Gallen in the Swiss league last weekend. Mohamed Salah missed this game due to a minor injury picked up last weekend.
Salah has also been called up by Bradley for the fixtures over the international break.
Egypt international trio Ahmed Samir Farag, Ahmed Saied ‘Okka’ and Mohamed ‘Dodo’ Elgabas were devastated to see their Egyptian-owned Lierse SK let in a goal in the final minute of the match to draw 1-1 with OH Leuven. All three internationals started the match in the Jupiler Pro League alongside former Zamalek midfielder Hussein Yasser – who assisted Lierse’s opener scored by Hazurov. Former Petrojet winger, Ghanaian winger Cofie Bekoe, missed a glorious one-on-one opportunity to double the score for Lierse.
Farag and Okka are included in Egypt’s squad to face Benin and Cameroon.

Former Wigan hitman Amr Zaki saw his first taste of action in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday since signing from Zamalek in August. Unfortuantely, it was a heavy loss to Zaki’s team Elazığspor losing 0-3 at home to Kasımpaşa thanks to a hat-trick from Nigeria international Kalu Uche. Zaki came on to start the second half but had a disappointing debut despite being eager to prove his worth. He was also yellow carded in the 54th minute for simulation, diving in the opponents box.
With this loss, Elazığspor lies bottom of the Super Lig table with 1 point from 3 matches. Amr Zaki has a clause in his contract which would allow him to terminate his contract if the Elazig side are relegated.
