OFFICIAL: CD Nacional sign Ezzat, Fathy & partnership agreement with Contractors
As reported by KingFut.com last week, the two clubs reached an agreement to sign the Arab Contractors defensive duo one-year loan deals, with the option to buy each at the end of their respective loan spell.
Sherif Habib, Arab Contractors chairman, stated that the recently signed cooperation deal between Arab Contractors and CD Nacional will enhance the stature of the players, clubs, and the Egyptian football in general.
“The cooperation deal between the two clubs will be very beneficial for Arab Contractors. CD Nacional will organise Contractors’ pre-season camp in Portugal for the next two years, as well as providing the players and the staff with numerous tactical lectures,” said Habib.
Sherif Habib said that they’re hoping to export more successful Egyptian players to Europe to follow the footsteps of Mohamed Salah, and he’s happy that Egyptian players can start their European journey from the same place Cristiano Ronaldo started his. Habib also mentioned that CD Nacional will help in the enhancement of Contractors’ youth setup and scouting network.
Rui Alves, CD Nacional’s president, expressed his happiness with the quality of the two newly signed players, and with the cooperation deal between the two clubs. Alves also confirmed that players can join Arab Contractors from CD Nacional in the future.
The duo of Ali Fathy and Mahmoud Ezzat gained interest after an impressive season at the Cairo side. 22-year-old left-back Fathy was linked with a move to FC Viitorul in Romania, whilst centre-back Ezzat was an Al Ahly target.
Ezzat and Fathy will occupy spots in the Nacional defence, who have already lost Mozambican player Mexer to French side Rennes.
Mahmoud Ezzat said: “I’d like to thank Mr Sherif Habib for giving us the opportunity to play in one of Europe’s top leagues, and hopefully this will be the start of many Egyptian players travelling to Europe to help make the national team better.”
“We must learn from Costa Rica and Algeria. They have many players abroad in Europe and that’s why they’re successful,” Ezzat concluded.
While Ali Fathy added: “I’m very excited for the new journey in Madeira, and hopefully playing in the Portuguese league and the Europa league will help me get into the national team, and improve as a football player.”
Mohamed Radwan, Arab Contractors’ manager, expressed his delight with the cooperation deal between the two clubs, and wished his departing players the best of luck.
“This will encourage other clubs to send their players to Europe, as it will eventually help the Egyptian national team,” Radwan said.
With this double signing, there are now four Pharaohs in the Nacional side, with Ezzat and Fathy joining Aly Ghazal and Saleh Gomaa and they will get a chance to play in this season’s Europa League, after Nacional finished in 5th place last season.
