Rabia debuts for Sporting in Portuguese League Cup win over Boavista

Rabia debuts made his official debut for Sporting as they downed Boavista by one goal to nil in the Portuguese League Cup on Wednesday night.

international Rami Rabia was among the substitutes before coming on the pitch two minutes before stoppage time, replacing Man of the Match Ryan Gauld to mark his debut with Sporting CP.

Sporting scored the only goal on the 75th minute when the goalkeeper knocked down Scottish wonderkid Ryan Gauld in the penalty box, before Japan forward Junya Tanaka stepped up to take the shot, converting the ball into the back of the net from the spot.

Tanaka’s goal was enough to earn 3 points and keep on top of Group C with 6 points, following two wins over Boavista and Guimaraes.

Sporting will have to face Setubal in the next game of the Portuguese League Cup ().
