Al Ahly managed to defeat Zamalek 1-0 the last time the teams faced each other in the league, courtesy of an own-goal scored by Zamalek midfielder Ahmed Tawfik.
Mohamed Salah will be looking to keep his winning streak with Zamalek in his fourth game as the first team manager, while Juan Carlos Garrido will be hoping for three points to lift his team up the table. Zamalek’s last win over Al Ahly was on the 21st of May 2007 with goals from Tamer Abdel-Hamid and Gamal Hamza. Since then however, Zamalek have failed to beat Al Ahly in 19 encounters in all competitions, with eight of those ending as draws.
Garrido will fancy proving his worth as the manager of Al Ahly and will look to defeat the Whites for a second time after his Egyptian Super Cup victory, which was taken to penalty kicks after a 0-0 draw between the 2 teams in regular and extra time.
