Salah included joins  on a six-month loan, as part of ’s €33.4 million deal for Juan Cuadrado, the clubs’ official websites have announced.

Chelsea have concluded the transfer with Fiorentina to sign Colombia international Juan Cuadrado and will send Mohamed Salah in the opposite direction on an initial six-month loan, with the option to extend it to 18 months for €1 million. Fiorentina would also have the option to make Salah’s move permanent if the loan is extended.

The Blues have been negotiating with the Italians over the past week, and despite the Viola’s attempts to hold onto the pacy winger, Chelsea have activated his €35 million release clause – paying 31.4M plus bonuses – and also agreed to let the Egypt international leave on loan.

The 22-year-old Egyptian winger passed his medical Monday morning in London, where he was examined by Fiorentina’s doctor in a bid to speed up the procedures before the closure of the winter transfer window tonight. Salah will also sign the contract with Fiorentina in London before travelling to Italy ‘within days’, as per Sky Italia reporter Gianluca Di Marzio.

Salah, who has 21 goals in 36 international appearances, was on the verge of completing a move to from Chelsea last week, after both clubs reached a verbal agreement over the transfer, but the Giallorossi then pulled out of the deal and used their final non-EU player slot to sign Ivorian striker Seydou Doumbia.

Vincenzo Montella, Fiorentina’s head coach, is encouraged by Salah’s arrival – calling him a ‘top player’ – despite expressing his disappointment in losing Cuadrado.

The Egyptian speedster joined Chelsea just over a year ago from FC Basel during the 2014 winter transfer window, in a deal worth €13 million plus bonuses.

Salah ended off last season on a high, starting in all six of Chelsea’s final league matches, but the form of Eden Hazard, Oscar, and Willian has limited the 22-year-old to just 33 minutes of Premier League football this season.

Salah’s Egyptian compatriot in Florence, Ahmed Hegazy, has today completed a six-month loan switch to Serie B side Perugia.

It is worth noting the Viola have also completed the signing of another right-sided midfielder, Aleandro Rosi, who joins on a temporary loan from Genoa.
