Mourinho to Salah: Your Premier League medal awaits, win the Europa League for me

coach José Mourinho texted star to invite him for celebrations back in London and to receive his Premier League winners medal.

Salah receiving English Premier League and Cup winners medals with Chelsea has been a point of debate for a couple of weeks now, due to the lack of matches he played in England this season.

Players need a minimum of five league appearances to qualify for a medal, and Salah has only made three with Chelsea this season before being loaned to Fiorentina in Italy, but upon the club’s request, players can still be issued with one.

While José Mourinho previously declared all his players will be champions if they were to win the league, the experienced Portuguese coach has now confirmed it in a text to Salah, saying: “We are waiting for you within the new few days to celebrate with us and receive your cup and league medal.”

“I am happy of what you are achieving in Italy. Win the Europa League for me,” Mourinho concluded, as revealed by Hany Hathout, an Egyptian journalist and friend of Salah.

It is worth noting that José sent a similar text to ex-Chelsea star Andre Schurrle, now of Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.

The 22-year-old will be the first Egyptian to ever receive a Premier League and a League Cup winners medal, a decent personal achievement for the winger.

Salah tweeted earlier this month: “League and Cup in one season.”
