Salah much closer to Roma than Inter – Report
A move away from Chelsea seems almost certain for the Egyptian international after Chelsea’s manager Mourinho confirmed that Salah is not included in his first team plans for the upcoming season.
Coming off a successful half-season on loan at Fiorentina, the 23-year-old is now close to completing a deal that will see him play for AS Roma. However, Inter Milan, Wolfsburg, Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Juventus have all been rumoured to want to bring the player onto their books.
The Egyptian had joined Fiorentina on a six-month loan deal with an option for La Viola to extend his time in Florence for another season for 1 million Euros, and another to secure his services fully for €18 million.
Having decided to not stay for another season in Florence and instead opt for a move to another Italian team, Fiorentina threatened to sue Salah over a possible breach of contractual terms.
La Viola have claimed that Inter Milan have contacted Mohamed Salah while he was on their books, therefore violating transfer regulations that state that a club cannot contact a player who is under contract with another club unless they inform his club beforehand.
Nonetheless, it seems that Fiorentina are not threatening to take legal action anymore as Chelsea appears to have promised to compensate them.
Gazetta Dello Sport have reported that Walter Sabatini, Roma’s director of football, was present in London last night in an attempt to accelerate and secure the transfer for the mercurial winger, with the Italian side looking to close the deal as soon as possible.
This is not the first time that GdS reported that AS Roma officials have travelled to London in order to complete the transfer; they reported that Sabatini was in the English capital last Friday to agree personal terms with Salah. Sabatini previously admitted ‘committing a mistake’ by not signing Salah when he had the chance last winter.
It appears that Roma are now focusing on agreeing terms with Chelsea having already agreed terms with the player for a reported five-year deal worth €3 million per year.
The main contenders for Salah’s signature are Inter Milan, with reports before surfacing that Salah was atop Roberto Mancini’s shopping list as the Nerazzurri are looking to reinforce their attack in attempt to push for a Champions League position next season.
However, Gazetta Dello Sport suggest that Mohamed Salah is almost certainly on his way to sign for AS Roma shortly on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy for a sum of around 23 millions Euros. A move to Inter seems unlikely as Roma have almost closed the deal.
If Salah does sign for the Wolves, he will not be the first Egyptian to do so. Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido’ signed for them in 2004 but struggled to break into the starting eleven and only made 8 appearances before moving to Tottenham first on loan then on a permanent transfer.
