VIDEO: Elmohamady scores twice as Hull batter Al Ain
Egyptian right-back Ahmed Elmohamady scored an impressive brace earlier today in his sides pre-season friendly against Al Ain of the UAE.
The Egyptian defender scored Hull’s second and third goals in the friendly tie, helping the English Championship side to a 4-0 victory.
The Tigers added to their unbeaten pre-season run with the win over Al Ain, with the friendly part of their 2015 Austria pre-season camp. Elmohamady started in the clash as the Tigers looked to keep up momentum heading into the Championship season following their relegation from the top flight at the end of the last campaign.
Hull’s first goal came about from a corner in the 30th minute, with captain Michael Dawson steering home an attempted Al Ain clearance with a swift drive into the top right corner of the net from just inside the 18-yard box. Hull, who have lost a number of key players this week, with players opting to move to Premier League clubs, headed into the break 1-0 up courtesy of Dawson’s strike, with Al Ain looking to get in on the action in the second half.
Al Ain had their hopes of a positive result dashed early on in the second half, with Elmohamady scoring his side’s second of the match in the 46th minute. The Egyptian, who has attracted some interest from a host of Premier League sides, notably Stoke City and Everton, was on hand at the back post to stab home the second goal following a cross from the left wing. 11 minutes later, Elmohamady, who has been challenged by Steve Bruce previously to add more goals to his performances, scored his second goal, effectively putting the tie to bed, placing a powerful header across the keeper and into the back of the net after again being found unmarked at the back post following another cross from the left wing.
The tie was rounded out for Hull in the 86th minute, with youngster Calaum Jahraldo-Martin finishing off a swift attacking move, blasting past the keeper with a left-footed drive into the bottom right hand corner of the net. The result in Austria leaves Hull City unbeaten in pre-season so far following victories against North Ferriby and Sam Morsy’s Chesterfield, as well as a drab 0-0 draw against Bundesliga side Hannover 96.
The Tigers have one remaining pre-season friendly, playing against Sheffield United on the 3rd of August, their final bout of preparation for their season opener in the Championship against Huddersfield, which will take place on the 9th of August.
It remains to be seen where Elmohamady ends up at the end of the transfer window, with a host of Premier League clubs reportedly interested in the right backs services.
