refused to account Al Ahly’s 3-0 smashing in Cairo from Smouha was due to the Ultras interruption of the players journey from the hotel to Petrosport stadium.

Ultras Ahlawy surrounded the team bus at the hotel, blocking it from leaving which forced some players to leave by taxis to the stadium while others were stuck at the hotel, delaying kick-off by two hours.

Al Ahly’s club director, Sayed Abdel-Hafiz, insisted that they are still capable of winning the league title regardless of the 3-0 loss against Smouha. Abdel-Hafiz disagreed with Peseiro’s comments that the fans were to be blamed for the loss, in a post match press-conference, saying: “The 3-0 defeat has nothing to do with the hotel incident. Al Ahly’s players arrived to the stadium around two hours later after the Ultras stopped them from moving towards the stadium.

“What matters the most is to wait till June 2016 and see who will be the EPL winner,” Abdel-Hafiz continued. Abdel-Hafiz insisted on forgetting what happened against Smouha as they will be having another EPL match on Monday, the 21st of December and they need to concentrate.

He ended his speech asking the Egyptian FA to allow them to play their home matches in their own stadium as they don’t consider Petrosport stadium as a home ground stadium.

Al Ahly were held a heavy 3-0 defeat at the hands of Alexandrian club Smouha following the league’s 40-day break.
