7-3 was the scoreline of an eventful match in which Al Ahly overpowered El Shorta to come out victorious in the league’s highest scoring match thus far.
Before the match Al Ahly sat in 6th place with 19 points having played 9 games, while El Shorta were in 16th place with 7 points from 10 games.
Al Ahly went into the match making four changes, fullbacks Hussein El-Sayed and Mohamed Hany found a place in the starting 11 replacing Sabri Rahil and Ahmed Fathy, Ramadan Sobhi replaced Mo’men Zakaria, and finally Saleh Gomaa took the place of the suspended Hossam Ghaly.
Malick Evouna opened Al Ahly’s account in this outstanding scoring manifest after great work from Walid Soliman in the 22nd minute.
It only took El Shorta 3 minutes to equalize through Hossam Galal after a mistake from Ahmed Hegazy. However, Ramy Rabia replied quickly to put Al Ahly back in front in the 27th minute after a great assist from Saleh Gomaa.
10 minutes later, Mahmoud Agogo equalized for El Shorta once again after a mistake from Ramia Rabia. Saleh Gomaa wasted no time as he equalized one minute later from a superb individual effort from outside the box.
Ramadan Sobhi then added his name to the scoresheet in the 41st minute following another superb Saleh Gomaa pass before beating El Shorta defender Ahmed Gamal and smashing the ball into the net of a stranded Essam Saad.
Before the first half came to an end, Malick Evouna added his second of the night and Al Ahly’s fifth from another Saleh Gomaa assist.
The first half ended 5-2 to Al Ahly, a breathtaking scoreline.
In the 57th minute, Saleh Gomaa continue his impressive display by assisting Ramy Rabia once again from a perfect cross, who made no mistake by heading the ball into the corner of Essam Saad’s goal to make the score 6-2.
In the 70th minute, Saleh Rico converted a penalty, earned by the impressive Mohamed Bassiouny who was fouled inside the box by Hussein El-Sayed. Emad Meteb restored Ahly’s 4 goal cushion by adding the team’s seventh goal following Saleh Gomaa’s brilliant effort, which was stopped by El Shorta’s keeper.
Al Ahly now climb up to 3rd place and fall only behind Misr El-Maqqasa and El Dakhleya and still have 2 matches to play.
El Shorta now sit in the relegation zone with 7 points from 11 matches.
