Egypt international Mohammed Abdel-Shafy played 90 minutes as Al Ahli maintained their lead atop the Saudi Pro League standings, after defeating Al-Faisaly 1-2.

Abdel-Shafy made his first start in months, since sustaining an injury back in early February.

Star striker Omar Al Somah opened the scoring; as the prolific Syrian latched onto a Taiseer Al-Jassim ball to put Christian Gross’ men ahead in the 60th minute.

Ahli soon doubled their lead just 12 minutes later, after they won a penalty which was calmly slotted home by Al Somah to complete his brace.

Faisaly did pull one back in the 90th minute through Salim Khebari, but the visitors held on for an important away win.

With this result, Al Ahli maintain their three-point lead at the top of the table over rivals Al-Hilal.
