EXCLUSIVE: Luxembourg request Egypt friendly

Posted on April 18, 2016

Egypt friendlyLuxembourg and Egypt have been in talks to play a friendly international, a source familiar with the discussions has told KingFut.

Luxembourg reached out to Egypt, offering to host the match on May 22. Talks reached an “advanced stage” at one point, according to the source, but have since quieted. The match has yet to officially be turned down, however.

Egypt’s FA recently mentioned Congo, Libya, and Morocco as possible candidates for a May friendly, though FIFA’s official match calendar shows Malawi facing the Pharaohs on May 30.

Egypt will take on Tanzania in its final 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on June 4.

Although the Pharaohs are already on the verge of securing qualification, the Tanzania clash – in addition to any May friendlies – would impact their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying group draw.

The Tanzania Clash will not have any Impact on the 2018 Seeding, Deadline Day is May 30th! Any Games after this Day will not be counted in the June Rankings (June Rankings to be published on June 2nd, Tanzania Clash is on June 4th!) 2018 Draw will be based on June Rankings! It’s very simple: Don’t play any friendly as long as Tunisia don’t play a Friendly! If they play a friendly that will allow them to surpass Egypt, then you can reconsider and think about playing a friendly against a strong side!!
