Al Ahly manager spoke after the match against Smouha, praising his team’s performance and on deciding to start at the last-minute.

Speaking in a press conference after watching his team defeat Smouha 3-1, Jol explained how he pondered Pairing Malick Evouna and Amr Gamal upfront before the match, before finally deciding to start with Momen Zakaria, Al Ahly manager said:

“At first I thought about playing both Evouna and Gamal upfront, but we later decided to start with Momen Zakaria on the left-wing, because he performs well there, He’s a fantastic player who always plays for the team”

Jol then explained that he was reluctant to introduce substitutes in today’s game by saying:

” When your team is winning 2-1 and you could see in the pitch that the team is well structured, with a good, strong performance all around, it becomes hard to introduce a change because it might disrupt the momentum and it could easily backfire ”

When asked about Ahmed El Sheikh continued absence and Sabri Raheel’s performance today, the Dutchman replied:

” We have a lot of good players in our squad and i try to choose the best players for every match. But El Sheikh will definitely get his chance”

” Sabry Rahil is one of the best players in Egypt in his position, He is really smart, he only made one mistake during the whole match”

Martin Jol concluded his comments by praising the team’s high spirits and focus in the second half:

” We faced a tough opponent who did not lose a game for a long time, But Al Ahly’s spirit and the team focus in the second half really helped us to score the goals and secure the three points”

Al Ahly now sit on top of the standings with 56 points, 11 more than city rivals Zamalek.
