Columbus Crew SC have announced on Thursday the release of Egyptian left-back from his one-year loan with the club.

Amro had joined the Major League Soccer (MLS) side from Real Betis during the 2016 preseason. Crew however decided to terminate early the player’s season long loan which was set to expire at December 2016.

The 23-year-old made one appearance for Crew, when he came as a substitute during his side’s 3-2 victory over New York City FC.

The club revealed on their official website that they decided to release Amro after they realised that it’d be hard to secure him enough playing time.

“After assessing the first two months of the season, we felt that our strong, veteran defensive depth would continue to make it difficult to provide Amro regular First Team minutes and so we wanted to make this move early enough in the year to allow Amro a chance to secure more playing time elsewhere,” said Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter.

“We would like to thank Amro for his time in Columbus and wish him the best in his future endeavors,” Berhalter added.

The former Wolfsburg II defender had joined Real Betis in the the 2015 summer transfer window for €300,000 from side El-Gouna, signing a four-year deal with the promoted La Liga side. He however failed to make a single competitive appearance with Betis.

If even a club in the MLS can’t guarentee him enough playing time then this guy has sad enough nothing to do in Europe. He’d better go back to Egypt and start from the bottom again.
