Hossam El-Badry names Al Ahly squad for league opener

Hossam El-Badry has announced his 21-man squad for Al Ahly’s 2016/17 Egyptian Premier League opener against Ismaily.

The reigning league champions will begin their title defence against rivals Ismaily, in what will be Hossam El-Badry’s first official fixture at the helm of Al Ahly since joining the latter side last month.

Notable absentees from the matchday squad include injured defensive duo Rami Rabia and Ahmed Hegazy, as well as the suspended Hossam Ghaly and Ahmed Fathy.

New signing Junior Ajayi has been named in the squad, and could be in line for a debut.

Ahly squad:

Goalkeepers: Sherif Ekramy, Ahmed Adel, Mohamed El-Shenawy

Defenders: Mohamed Hany, Bassem Ali, Sabry Rahil, Ali Maaloul, Saad Samir, Mohamed Naguib

Midfielders: Hossam Ashour, Akram Tawfik, Amr El-Sulaya, Karim Nedved, Momen Zakaria, Walid Soliman, Abdallah El-Said, Mohamed Hamdy Zaki
