LIVE: Congo vs Egypt – 2018 World Cup qualifying
KingFut covers the live action as Egypt travel to Brazzaville to take on Congo in their Group E opener, in the final round of 2018 FIFA World Cup CAF qualification.
Ghana were held to a surprise draw at home by Uganda on Friday, in a turn of events that has given Egypt the chance to take charge of the group ahead of their clash with the Black Stars next month on home soil.
Egypt manager Hector Cuper has since claimed that he was not surprised to learn that Ghana had dropped points in Tamale, and the Argentina will be keen to take advantage of his rivals’ slip-up and help the Pharaohs top their group after the first round of matches.
A win at the Stade Municipal de Kintélé would be invaluable to the seven-time Africa Cup of Nations champions, as they seek to qualify to a World Cup finals for the first time since 1990.
93: Full time! Egypt come from behind to secure a 2-1 away win to start their World Cup dream on the right foot.
93′: Surely the last attack now for Congo, as they have a throw in in the Egyptian third.
92′: CLOSE again! Abdallah El-Said sees his shot, following a one-two with Salah, stopped by the Congo keeper. He’s doing all he can to keep the home side in it.

85′: Corner kick for Congo, as the home team makes another substitution.
83′: ALMOST! Ramadan Sobhy orchestrates an Egyptian attack, including a dummy by the new Stoke City man, leading to Abdallah El-Said sending his volley over the bar. He really should have made it 3-1.
82′: Promising attack for the Pharaohs ends at Koka dances with the ball on the edge of the box. El-Hadary comes out to collect a promising through ball on the ensuing counter attack.
81: Ramadan loses the ball in his own half, but Egypt gets enough bodies back to thwart the Congo attack.
79: Second substitution for Egypt, as Trezeguet is replaced by Ramadan Sobhi.
77′: Congo continue to push forward for the equalizer, as Egypt continue to defend with their lives.
73′: OH MY! Congo go close twice in twenty seconds! El Hadary comes out to clear a cross, isn’t able to get back into his goal in time, as his defenders bail him out by clearing a shot off the line. Seconds later, a cross comes in and Gabr gets a toe on it to deflect it off his own goalkeeper, and Egypt eventually smack the ball away. So close to an equalizer for the Congolese.
72′: Series of corners now for Congo, ultimately ending with Baudry sending his shot over the bar.
71′: First sub for the Egyptians as Ahmed Hassan ‘Koka’ replaces Bassem Morsy. He makes his first touch defending the free kick, as he deflects it out for a Congo corner.
