Karim Hafez played all 90 minutes as Racing Club de Lens failed to move into the promotion playoff spot, after a 1-1 draw at home to AC Ajaccio.

Lens came into the 14th round of fixtures sitting in fourth place in the Ligue 2 table, just one point behind Amiens, who occupied the promotion playoff spot.

After Amiens drew 0-0 to bottom side Auxerre on Friday, Lens had a golden opportunity to leapfrog their rivals in the standings.

Against Ajaccio, Karim Hafez started on the right side of defence, as opposed to his traditional left-back position.

A dull first half was only punctuated by bookings for Ajaccio duo Alioune Fall and Riad Nouri, in the 16th and 29th minutes respectively.

Alain Casanova brought on Abdel-Rafik Gerard in the 67th minute, and the introduction of the attacking midfielder inspired his team to open the scoring four minutes later, through Kevin Fortune.

Mouaad Madri spoiled the fun for the home supporters just four minutes later, as he equalised from a Nouri assist.

The draw sees Lens drop into sixth place in the table, with their next match against relegation battlers Auxerre on November 18.
