Elneny features as Arsenal fail to reach the EFL Cup semi-final

Arsenal was eliminated from the quarter-finals of the English Football League Cup by , after suffering a 2-0 loss to the Saints at the Emirates Stadium.

failed to proceed to the semi-finals of the Football League Cup, with Mohamed Elneny featuring for just only 43 minutes before being subbed off.

Arsenal played a very disappointing game, as the players were terribly poor in terms of providing the intensity and laying out their style of play. The players failed to get in the game quickly and that saw Southampton’s Jordie Clasie score in the 13th minute.

That wasn’t it, as the 38th minute saw left-back Ryan Bertrand scoring the second goal for Southampton to continue their magnificent performance against Arsenal.

The Egyptian player was subbed off in the 43rd minute after he failed to continue playing after a harsh interception. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed in a post-match conference that Elneny is not injured, but was just not feeling well even before the match.

Arsenal entered the second half with another disappointing display, as the Gunners failed to respond and get back into the game.

Arsenal’s loss ended their 19-game unbeaten run in all competitions. On Saturday, Arsenal travel to East London to face West Ham in the English Premier League.
