Ahmed Elmohamady played the full 90 minutes as Hull City fell to their ninth defeat in 14 league matches this season, after a 1-0 loss against Middlesbrough on Monday evening.

Hull City needed a positive result against mid-table opponents Middlesbrough, in order to pull themselves out of the relegation zone and make a positive start to the month of December.

Alvaro Negredo came close to opening the scoring in the sixth minute, but his effort was off target.

Middlesbrough did indeed have the ball in the back of their opponents’ net, only to see Viktor Fischer’s goal chalked off for offside.

The hosts finally broke the deadlock on the hour-mark, as Gaston Ramirez headed home from a corner.

Deep into added time, Victor Valdes pulled off a blinding save deep into added time to deny Adama Diomandé, and Elmohamady headed the resulting corner wide as Hull City’s hopes of salvaging a point faded away.
