“Overall we’re satisfied about our performance during the match but we still didn’t reach our full potential,” the Argentinian manager told ON Sport TV channel after the last friendly. “It was important for us to win this match because we all know the impact of losing to Tunisia before leaving to Gabon.”

Regarding Egypt’s chances in the upcoming African championship, Cúper ensured that results will depend on the amount of effort the players give in. “History won’t help you win, your team will win if you give enough effort.”

He assured that the technical staff will get back to all the mistakes made during the match and work on fixing them.

On Egypt’s final lineup, “I am almost settled for the players who will start in the championship, especially for goalkeepers,” he added. “We’re always trying to choose the fittest players for each position and we have good thoughts regarding Amr Warda and Karim Hafez.”
