The first goal in their match against Cameroon was conceded from a free-kick. The team also conceded a goal from a free-kick against Burkina Faso and another free-kick by Mohamed Salah in their match against in the group stage.

“The set pieces really cost us. In the Egypt game we conceded, in the Cameroon game, we also conceded in the Burkina Faso game,” said the former Chelsea manager. “We could have avoided the set pieces, especially where they happened and that would have changed our story.”

Grant, however, praised his players and their performance in the tournament. “The team showed great promise in the tournament, it’s a young team and has a great future,” he added.
