Former Chelsea, AC Milan, Real Madrid and Ghana star completed a move to Indonesian side Persib Bandung.

Essien has been without a club since he was released by Panathinaikos after only 12 appearances. He was then linked with a move to the Chinese Super League and laterturned down a move to Australia’s Melbourne Victory. He eventually joined the Indonesian Premier League.

“I hope I am the prelude to other world players moving to Indonesia,” he told the press. “Hopefully this is a good beginning for Indonesian football and also for Persib.”

The midfielder who was once recognized among the best midfielders in the world signed a one-year deal contract with an option to extend for one more.

The ex-Ghana international, who is now 34, spent eight seasons at Stamford Bridge with over 250 appearances, winning two English Premier League and one UEFA Champions League titles.
