legend Flavio Amado reflects on his position as Angola national team assistant coach after joining as part of Beto Bianchi’s set-up.

Flavio Amado, who played for Al Ahly between 2005 and 2009, was appointed as the Angola national team assistant manager, joining former Petroatletico boss Beto Bianchi once again after the both worked together at the club.

“My relationship with professor Beto is the best you can have because with him I’ve been learning a lot. He is a very professional person, a good friend and companion,” Flavio tells KingFut.

Now Flavio finds himself return to the national team, this time as a coach, an unfamiliar site for him in management due to different conditions, with players gathering up every few months for camp and not on regular basis.

“It is completely different but we hope to manage the team in the best way possible, with enough conversation that can transmit all the coaching staff needs to the athletes as soon as possible,” continued Flavio.

Until this day, Flavio is considered to be one of the best players in Angola’s history, as he holds record for Angola’s first and only goal in a FIFA World Cup, after his header against Iran in 2006.

“I hope I can help in generating everything I lived, as you’re transmitting to the athlete confidence and dedicating my knowledge to them.”

During his time with Cairo giants Al Ahly, the 37-year-old managed to scoop up three winner’s medals, four titles, three CAF Super Cups, a bronze medal at the 2006 FIFA Club World Cup as well as top scorer of the domestic league on two occasions, among other honors.

“My experience with Al Ahly will help in many ways because with the Al Ahly I have played many international matches that increased my desire to win in all competitions we played. I hope I can pass on this will to always win,” Flavio concluded.
