Al Ahly head coach Hossam El-Badry discussed his team’s goalless draw against and assured that the Red Devils will qualify to the next round.

El-Badry’s players were held to a goalless draw by Zambian champions at Borg El-Arab Stadium in the Group D opener on Saturday.

“We lost two points but we still have a long way ahead in our African journey. We will qualify to the next round no matter how our start was,” the coach assured fans after the match.

The 57-year-old coach said that the players were not aggressive enough when it came to scoring goals and attacking as the Red Castle dominated most of the game but with no threatening chances.

“I respect Zanaco’s coach as he said the truth when he said that his team fought hard to secure a point in this game,” he added. “The changes in the squad were made according to the coaching staff’s technical vision. For changes made during the match, they were the result of exhaustion. That’s why I had to change Junior Ajayi and Hossam Ghaly.”
