CAPS United back manager Chitembwe ahead of Zamalek encounter
have insisted that manager Lloyd Chitembwe will stay at the club despite poor start to the season.

Chitembwe’s security at the Zimbabwean champions looked more precarious than ever after a poor start to the season, gaining only 13 points from their first nine league games, however, the club’s board have insisted that the manager will stay at the club.

Chitembwe told the reporters that he might quit CAPS United after seeing his side defeated 2-0 by lowly Yadah in the Castle Lager Premiership.

“We haven’t discussed anything with the coach concerning that issue. But we should also understand that with such a result one is bound to be frustrated,” Club chief executive Cuthbert Chitima said.

“He is human, he can get emotional and it’s very understandable the way he reacted to the defeat, but as CAPS United we are fully behind our coach.

“We will support him in every way possible and we are saying if he feels we should do more as management we are here to complement his efforts,” he added.

CAPS United are currently bottom of Group B with just three points, but Chitima believes that his side can still qualify to the quarter-finals.

“Of course we may have lost some of our matches in the Champions League, but right now we are telling our supporters that we haven’t thrown in the towel.

“We are still in the race. If we can win on Sunday and then hope for another positive result in our last match we could still make it. It’s not over yet for us,” Chitima added.
