Al Ahly manager Hossam El-Badry highlighted the importance of Saturday’s encounter with Coton Sport, insisting that fans’ presence will be a key factor for his team.

The Red Devils will host the Cameroonian side at Borg El-Arab Stadium on Saturday in the last matchday of the group stage.

The record eight-time African Champions face Coton Sport in a do or die mission as a victory in Alexandria would secure the Red Castle a spot in the quarter-finals regardless of the outcome of the other game between Wydad Casablanca and Zanaco, which will also be played on Saturday.

“All factors will be in favour of Al Ahly when we play Coton Sport on Saturday,” El-Badry said in the pre-match press conference.

“The Coton game is very important and we hope to win the game to secure qualification and please our fans,” he added.

The 57-year-old coach insisted that the fans’ presence will be a key factor for his team after security forces exceptionally allowed twenty-thousand Ahly fans attend the crucial match.

“The fans’ presence will have an impact in motivating the players to win,” said the former Al Ahly player, who led the Cairo giants to African glory in 2012 and have most recently helped the team win the Egyptian Premier League title.

Al Ahly, who last won the competition in 2013, sit third in Group D on 8 points, three adrift of leaders Zanaco and one behind Wydad. Meanwhile, Coton sit at the bottom of the group with no points.

The match is scheduled for 21.00 CLT, with other group opponents Wydad and Zanaco facing each other in Casablanca at the same time.
