South African side have contacted ’s to enquire about the possibility of signing the unsettled striker this Summer, KingFut can confirm.

KingFut understands that Bidvest Wits are keen on signing the striker this summer as Gavin Hunt looks to strengthen his squad to retain the league title next season.

The 25-year-old has been in bad form this season, scoring just four goals in 21 appearances across all competitions, however, he impressed for the Reds against the South African side when they met last March.

“Al Ahly have the best players ever. Amr Gamal and Ahmed Hegazy were the best,” Bidvest Wits’ coach Gavin Hunt said following his side’s goalless draw with Al Ahly at Johannesburg in the CAF Champions League.

Gamal’s chances have been limited this season as he was stuck behind Junior Ajayi and Souleymane Coulibaly and could consider a move to South Africa especially after the arrival of Morocco international Walid Azaro.

Dutch club AZ Alkmaar were keen to sign Amr Gamal last summer, but didn’t submit an official bid. He also received an offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Fateh SC and was linked with French side Toulouse and Switzerland’s Grasshoppers in 2014.

Amr was promoted from Al Ahly youth team in 2013 and he went on to make almost 100 appearances for the club, scoring 27 goals. He helped the Reds lift three Premier League titles, two Egyptian Super Cups, the 2013 African Champions League, the CAF Confederation Cup in 2014 as well as two CAF Super Cups in 2013 and 2014.

Wits finished the 2016/2017 South African Premier League as champions after collecting 60 points, three more than Africa Champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
