Inacio discusses Zamalek’s draw against Al Ahli Tripoli

head coach Augusto Inacio pointed out the difficulties his team faced during the match against on Sunday in the round of 16.

The Whites were eliminated from the championship after a 2-2 home draw with Libyan side Ahli Tripoli which left them in third place with six points, while Ahli Tripoli and USM Alger both qualified to the quarter-finals.

“Ahli Tripoli match was difficult. We had a problem setting the right formation,” he told the press after the match. “I think we did a good match and scored an early opener but we handed our opponents the game after the penalty kick and receiving a red card.”

“We did our best to win but we weren’t able to,” he added. “Our fans deserved more, and players did their best.”

The club’s president, Mortada Mansour revealed after the match that Inacio told him about his intention to leave the club a few days before the Ahli Tripoli game. Inacio commented about his departure after the match by saying: “Vampires will start talking about my departure now.”

The Portuguese coach concluded by saying that he just started coaching Zamalek and that he did not have enough time to prepare a team that can win championships.
