Mortada: Inacio wanted to leave before Ahli Tripoli game

Zamalek chairman revealed that head coach Augusto Inacio asked to leave the team before the match against in the CAF Champions League.

The White Knights were knocked out of the round of 16 group stage after a 2-2 home draw against the Libyan side in the sixth and last round, which left Zamalek in third place.

“In a meeting between me and Inacio before the game, the coach was determined to leave,” Mansour told Sada El Balad TV channel. “We’ll be meeting on Monday with Inacio to discuss his future with the club.”

The chairman assured that the Portuguese coach is not the only one responsible for Zamalek’s elimination from the championship and that players should be held responsible too.

Mortada however, pointed out to ON Sport TV channel that Inacio can only stay with the club if he obliged to the president’s conditions. “He has to hire a general coach. Sami El-Sheshini,  and Ashraf Kassem are good candidates,” he added.

According to the controversial president, more details regarding the coach’s future will be announced on Monday following a meeting between both sides.
