Liverpool manager has confirmed that Egypt international won’t be available for the club’s first pre-season friendly against Tranmere Rovers due to immigration rules.

The 25-year-old winger is required to exit the country and return in order to finalise his work permit, as part of a standard immigration procedure. This means he’ll be denied the chance to make his debut for the Reds during their first pre-season friendly at Prenton Park.

It’s unclear whether the issue will be resolved before Liverpool’s second pre-season friendly against Wigan Athletic on Friday. If not, he’ll have to wait to Crystal Palace’s game on July 19 in Premier League Asia Trophy that will take place in Hong Kong.

“Mo Salah is here in training but cannot play because of the rules, so that’s what we have to accept,” Klopp told Liverpool official website.

“We will try to get the working permission or the visa, I’m not sure what it is we need to get but we have to go to Paris and leave him there for a day or two and then he’ll come back. We are hopeful he can play soon,” Klopp added.

The Egyptian winger, who joined Liverpool on a five-year contract, reported for his first training session at Melwood on Saturday.
