VIDEO: Newcastle hit by Koka brace, Hegazy impresses in Viola demolition
In pre-season friendlies, Newcastle were hit by an Ahmed Hassan Koka brace while Ahmed Hegazy impressed for Fiorentina in a 9-0 win against Trentino.
Ahmed ‘Koka’ Hassan scored a brace for Rio Ave against Newcastle United while Ahmed Hegazy impressed in Fiorentina’s thrashing of Trentino, as the Egyptian duo started in friendlies for their respective sides for the second consecutive week.
Despite the selling of Montenegro international Stevan Jovetic to Manchester City, Fiorentina were no where near short on goals for the second consecutive week – albeit against very low division opposition – as Giuseppe Rossi scored a hat-trick before Adem Ljajic added a super hat-trick in the Viola’s 9-0 demolition against Trentino.
Ahmed Hegazy was given his second pre-season start for Fiorentina in a very strong eleven featuring Rossi, Ambrosini, Joaquin and newly-signed Mario Gomez from Bayern Munich, who was making his Viola debut.
22-year-old centre-back Hegazy, who returned to the Fiorentina squad in May after rupturing his cruciate knee ligament last December, was very impressive before being replaced at half-time as Vincenzo Montella fielded a completely different eleven for the second-half.
Fiorentina will next face Pro Patria on Wednesday and have two more friendlies lined-up before going on tour in August to play Giuseppe Rossi’s former club Villarreal in Spain on August 8 before visiting Lisbon to face Sporting on August 11.
Egypt U-20 and Rio Ave hitman Ahmed Hassan, who scored 10 goals in his debut season in Portugal last season, dealt English Premier League side Newcastle United their first defeat of pre-season with a 3-1 friendly win at home on Saturday night.
Koka scored a brace within the first 10 minutes while midfielder Braga added a third on the 26th minute to send the Magpies into half-time trailing by a three-goal deficit.
The 20-year-old Egyptian striker stunned Newcastle after scoring on the six-minute mark. Del Valle sent a cross in from the right which was hooked home past the despairing dive of Jak Alnwick by Hassan.
Koka wasn’t done there, doubling his tally just three minutes later, having been afforded time and space to turn and get his shot away from inside the area.
Nigerian Shola Ameobi scored a consolation goal for Alan Pardew’s side – who were much improved after the restart.
Newcastle were without star striker Papiss Cissé after the Senegalese striker pulled out of their pre-season training camp in Portugal after refusing to wear their sponger’s logo on his jersey on religious grounds, as the club are sponsored by money-lending company Wonga.
