PHOTOS: Egypt training intensely at KNUST ahead of Ghana clash
The Egyptian national team have began training at the Paa Joe Park at the KNUST in Kumasi ahead of the World Cup qualifying clash with Ghana on 15 October.
Under the helm of Bob Bradley, the Pharaohs, who arrived in Kumasi on Saturday, have started training at the Paa Joe Park at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) as they prepare to take on the Black Stars of Ghana on Tuesday.
The entire team was training intensely with the exception of central midfielder Hosni Abd-Rabo, who trained by himself under the supervision of a trainer after recently picking up a small knock to his ankle.
This casts further doubt on Abd-Rabo starting in the first leg in Kumasi as he only recently recovered from an ACL injury.
A large number of Ghanaian fans attended the session, many of whom were seen waving Egypt flags and chanting at stars like Mohamed Salah and Abou-Treika.
It is not clear whether the local fans had genuine support for the Pharaohs or not; however, several university students also turned up to make their voice heard by chanting ‘victory to Ghana’.
The Egyptian national team will hold their first training session at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Monday at 4pm (GMT) before taking on Ghana 24 hours later in the first leg of the World Cup qualifying play-off.
The Pharaohs are eyeing their first World Cup appearance since 1990, while Ghana are seeking to reach the tournament for the third consecutive time, having reached the quarter finals in their last appearance in 2010.
