Mido turns down Al Masry coaching offer

Mido announces through twitter on Saturday that he will not be coaching .

30-year-old Mido, who is widely regarded as one of the best Egyptian players to have played abroad, had retired from football last summer.

The ex-Egypt national team and Ajax Striker was set to start coaching Al Masry after their Monday clash with Al Ismaily.

Mido turned down the role however, tweeting this morning: “I apologized to the Al Masry’s officials about taking charge of the club’s technical management.”


He thanked Al Masry’s President Yasser Yehia for having confidence in him to prevail with the team from it’s horrid situation.

“I would like to thank Mr. Yasser Yehia the president of Al Masry club for his trust in me as the right man for the job, and I wish all the best for Al Masry and Port Said,” Mido added.

The ex-Spurs striker praised the Port Said citizens, mentioning that they were great while cheering for the Egyptian national team when it played there.

Mido has been working as a TV show host for Al Hayat 2’s Al Alamy and FilGoal’s Mido Digital.

The Port Said side are currently suffering in the table being bottom of their group with only 2 points from 3 matches, up till now.

Mido’s position as a pundit for beIN Sports was in question, but it appears that he will continue as a pundit for them.

The striker had been know as journey man throughout his career playing for 11 clubs which include Italian giants Roma, Spurs and 4-time Champions league winners Ajax Amsterdam.
