Emad Meteb arrested after a scuffle with a police officer

Emad Meteb arrested

Al Ahly and international striker was allegedly arrested on Tuesday after a scuffle with a police officer.

Emad Meteb, who has 67 international caps under his name, was reportedly engaged in a fight with a police officer, after the former refused to remove his incorrectly parked vehicle. The problem escalated quickly when the Egypt international striker took a handgun out to threaten the local police officer.

Meteb was escorted by the police officers to the nearest police station, as he managed to call some of Al Ahly’s board members to help him out. However, the police officer refused to withdraw the case after personal apologies from the player. The case now will be fully investigated by the Attorney General.

It’s well worth mentioning that Meteb has been sidelined since the start of the season following a recurring back injury.

Meteb is not the only player to get into complications with the law recently as former Borussia Dortmund striker Mohamed Zidan was sentenced to prison last year, albeit over a ‘big misunderstanding‘.

Zidan was acquitted of his jail sentence and due to a misunderstanding, not criminal action. I have no idea why you would include that statement other than to tarnish an innocent person’s name. I think most Egyptian players are more like Salah and Aboutreka than Ghaly and Meteb in terms of attitude and humbleness. Players are human as well and therefore are capable of mistakes, some more than others

We have previously reported on the misunderstanding regarding Zidan’s case but the editor must’ve forgot to link it here; included now. Thanks for the comment.
