Al Ahly striker Gedo suffers ACL tear in Tunisia
Egypt striker Gedo is set for a lengthy spell out after he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in Al Ahly’s match against Etoile du Sahel in Tunisia on Sunday.
Egyptian international Mohamed Nagy ‘Gedo’ fell suddenly 31 minutes into the first-half of Al Ahly’s group stage match against Etoile du Sahel in the CAF Confederations Cup on Sunday.
The former Hull City striker was immediately replaced by Ahmed Shokry, before Al Ahly confirmed that the 29-year-old striker’s anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) had been torn following their 1-1 draw in Soussa, Tunisia.
The club also announced that he is expected to be out for a period between 4-6 months, which likely rules him out of Egypt’s 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Gedo joins Abdallah El-Said in Ahly’s lengthy injury list as the latter fractured his foot earlier this month.
