Nigeria announce National Team

Stephen Keshi named ’s 23-man squad for the finals in Brazil.

Keshi, head coach of African Cup of Nations champions Nigeria, has finally announced his 23-man squad for this month’s World Cup in Brazil.

The Super Eagles squad isn’t free of surprises despite the inclusion of stars Vincent Enyeama, Efe Ambrose, Godfrey Oboabona, Ahmed Musa and Chelsea trio John Obi Mikel, Victor Moses and Kenneth Omeruo; as Sunday Mba – who scored Nigeria’s AFCON winner – was dropped.


Goalkeepers: Vincent Enyeama (Lille), Austin Ejide (Hapoel Be’er Sheva), Chigozie Agbim (Gombe United).

Defenders: Elderson Echiejile (Monaco), Efe Ambrose (Celtic), Godfrey Oboabona (Rizespor), Azubuike Egwuekwe (Warri Wolves), Kenneth Omeruo (Chelsea), Juwon Oshaniwa (Ashdod FC), Joseph Yobo (Norwich City), Kunle Odunlami (Sunshine Stars).

Midfielders: John Mikel Obi (Chelsea), Ramon Azeez (Almeria), Ogenyi Onazi (Lazio), Reuben Gabriel (Waasland-Beveren), Michael Babatunde (Volyn Lutsk).

Forwards: Ahmed Musa (CSKA Moscow), Shola Ameobi (Newcastle United), Emmanuel Emenike (Fenerbahce), Peter Odemwingie (Stoke), Michael Uchebo (Cercle Brugge), Victor Moses (Chelsea), Uche Nwofor (Heerenveen).

The Nigerian national team was drawn in Group F alongside Argentina, Bosnia And Herzegovina and Iran.

Nigeria take on Iran in their first match of the group stages on the 16th of June.

    Nosa brought stability to the midfield in the match against Scotland. Why not drop chigozie or azubuike and take Nosa. I hope Ejide has learnt his lessons. Good luck to Super Eagles.

    I don’t like this selection; y droping mba that guy is a complete footballer ready to supply any time. I hope he can make something out of these guys

    Well, no matter who has been selected we should respect the selection of Keshi that is why he is the manager and don’t let us jump the gun…..I wish the super eagles the very best of luck

    Selection to me is nothing. But grace to bring something out of nothing will b given to all d players selected n d Coach. See u on top in d wc games.

    The coach has the final say,but at least you should have consider MBA ,but all the same I wish supper eagles good luck to World Cup final.go boys.
