Marwan Mohsen scores on Gil Vicente debut

25-year-old Egyptian striker Marwan Mohsen scored his first goal for Gil Vicente on his debut, netting a penalty in a friendly against União da Madeira.

Signed just last week by Gil Vicente from Petrojet, Mohsen opened his personal account at Gil Vicente, scoring the first goal in a 3-1 win against União da Madeira who play in the 2nd tier of Portuguese football.

A game played in Leça on the outskirts of Porto, Mohsen converted a penalty giving his team the lead. The other two goals were scored by Nigerian player Simi Nwankwo in Gil’s 3-1 win.

Later in the day the team returned to Barcelos where they played another game, this time against Ahmed Hassan ‘Koka’s Rio Ave, who won 1-2. Paulinho scored for Gil Vicente, whilst Roderick Miranda and Diego Lopes netted for Rio Ave in a game divided into three halves of 30 minutes.

Gil Vicente play their next friendly against Arouca on the 30th of July.
