Gharib announces Egypt squad for Botswana encounters

Gharib - Egypt squad

Egypt national team manager Shawky Gharib has announced his 25-man squad for both Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Botswana.

The first game will be played at the Botswana National Stadium on the 10th of October, before the Pharaohs host the Zebras just 5 days later.

The Egyptians have started their qualification campaign in the worst possible way, losing 2-0 in Dakar to Senegal before falling 0-1 to Tunisia at the Air Defense Stadium.

The losses have prompted Gharib to state that he will step down from his post if Egypt fail to qualify for the 2015 African Cup of Nations, which will be held in Morocco.

The squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Sherif Ekramy (Al Ahly), Amir Abdel-Hamid (Wadi Degla), Ahmed El-Shenawy (Zamalek)

Defenders: Mohamed Abdel-Shafy (Al-Ahli Jeddah), Mohamed Naguib, Sabry Rahil, Saad Samir (Al Ahly), Ahmed Elmohamady (Hull City), Shawky El-Said, (Ismaily), Ali Gabr, Hazem Emam (Zamalek)

Midfielders: Hossam Ghaly, Walid Soliman (Al Ahly), Ahmed Hamoudi, Mohamed El-Nenny (FC Basel), Amr El-Sulaya (Ismaily), Saleh Gomaa (CD Nacional), Ibrahim Abdel-Khalek (Smouha), Ahmed Fathi (Umm Salal), Ayman Hefny, Ibrahim Salah (Zamalek)

Forwards: Amr Gamal (Al Ahly), Mohamed Salah (Chelsea), Hani El-Egeizy (Smouha), Khaled Kamar (Zamalek)

No Koka, no Ghazal, no Hegazy, no Rabia (don’t know if he’s fit though), no Hosny, no Mohamed Ibrahim, no Kahraba. Instead players like Naguib, Soliman, El-Egeizy and Kamar…
Hossam Hassan for national team coach!

For each other group, the best possible third team after the two next matches:

Group A: Nigeria with 7 points
Group B: the four teams with 6 points.
Group C: Gabon and Lesotho with 7 points.
Group D: the four teams with 6.
    Group E: Guinea with 6.
Group F: Zambia or Niger with 7.

So Egypt would occupy the qualifying position if :
-they beat Botswana twice with an enough large score.

-and if any team among those below don’t win their two matches:
    Nigeria,Gabon,Lesotho,Zambia,Niger.

    NOT IMPOSSIBLE AT ALL
