scored yet again to make it three goals in five games for the Viola and help them progress to the last 16 of the with a 3-1 aggregate win over .

The game started off unsurprisingly edgy and cagey with giving Tottenham too much respect, while the visitors had the majority of the ball.

It was the visitors who had the first clear cut opportunity when Soldado, who was played through by Eriksen on the halfway line, attempted to put it on a plate for Chadli. However, the pass lacked pace and Neto dived in to collect to the delight of the Viola fans.

You felt that was the game changer, and it soon proved to be. In the second half the Viola started strong and forced Tottenham back. Salah’s dribble was deflected to Badelji who shot tamely in the hands of Lloris. It wasn’t long after that before Fiorentina took the lead, Badelji played the recently out-of-form Gomez through who finished expertly to make it 1-0.

Joaquin then pinched the ball of the overly relaxed Lamela and put Salah through but the Egyptian couldn’t finish the move off.  Salah did get his goal though 20 minutes from time; his one two with Gomez was intercepted by Vertonghen, who seemed to stumble on the ball before Salah took over and finished powerfully to make it 2 – his third goal in 5 appearances for the Viola.

The introduction of Harry Kane didn’t seem to make much difference, he fed Erikson whose shot was saved by Neto to end the London side’s misery. The on-fire English striker had previously found the back of the net but was ruled out by the linesman for an offside.

The Viola will now get back to work as they look to challenge for the Champions League places when they take on Inter Milan at the San Siro on Sunday.
