Sam Morsy’s Chesterfield make promotion playoff place

Chesterfield have guaranteed a top six finish meaning they make the promotion playoff place for the Championship.

Egypt-eligible midfielder Sam Morsy has captained his side to a promotional place playoff despite a 2-0 loss to League One champions Bristol City.

Chesterfield who were only promoted to League One this season are hoping to make it back to back promotions under impressive manager Paul Cook.

The 23-year-old who has been Chesterfield’s captain since January joined Chesterfield from Port Vale in 2013 has expressed his desire to play for Egypt.

Chesterfield’s last game of the season in against 5th placed Sheffield United who are two points ahead meaning a win would put 6th placed Chesterfield above them.

The League One playoff semi-final first leg will be played on 7th May with the second leg on Sunday 10th May.  The final is to be played on the 24th of May.
