VIDEO: Elmohamady assists as Hull upset Liverpool

Ahmed Elmohamady assists Hull City vs Liverpool

helped down 1-0 in the to steer the Tigers further away from the relegation zone.

Hull City earned a massive three points at the KC Stadium against Champions League-hopefuls Liverpool on Tuesday night, boosting Steve Bruce’s side’s Premier League survival hopes.

Egypt international Elmohamady, who has played every minute for the Tigers in the league this season, and every match since their return to the EPL in 2013, assisted the only goal of the game in the 37th minute, scored by captain Michael Dawson. The former Tottenham centre-back was left unmarked in the box when Elmo’s pinpoint cross was headed past Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

Liverpool pressed and came close to equalising, but thanks to some resolute defending, with the 27-year-old Egyptian doing well to neutralise any potential threat from Raheem Sterling, and an outstanding save from Steve Harper to deny Jordan Henderson from close range, the Tigers held on for their second consecutive clean sheet and win.

The win sees the Egyptian-owned club move up to 15th place in the league table, but are only four points away from 18th place Sunderland, who also have a game in hand. The Tigers have yet to secure their safety in the English top flight, and still have some very tough upcoming fixtures before the conclusion of the 2014/2015 season.
