Zamalek crushed mid-table team Ittihad El-Shorta 5-1 as they played on Thursday in the postponed game from the 22nd round of the .


Zamalek XI: Ahmed El-Shennawy; Hazem Emam, Ali Gabr, Mohamed Koffi, Hamada Tolba; Ibrahim Salah, Moruf Yusuf, Ahmed Tawfik, Mostafa Fathi, Bassem Morsi, Ahmed Ali.

First half:

The game started bright and smooth as both sides were confident in their positions. El-Shorta opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when Ahmed Gomaa found the back of the net and gave his side the lead. Gomaa had received a long ball, and finished beautifully in the top right corner.

Exactly 10 minutes later, Zamalek were rewarded a penalty and Bassem Morsi took a deadly shot, which hit the top of the net, to give Zamalek the tie and get back into the game.

In the 35th minute, Khaled Setouhi of El-Shorta received a red card for a reckless challenge that he did on Ahmed Tawfik.

Khaled Setouhi would later regret committing this challenge as his side conceded again in the 39th minute, four minutes after he was sent off. Ibrahim Salah gave Zamalek the lead with a wonderful goal, and his side were now up 2-1. Ibrahim Salah found a corner kick inside the box, and finished with a class header.

Second half:

Zamalek started the second half quickly as scored in the 48th minute making it 3-1 for the Whites. After a defensive mistake in clearing, Kamar found the ball in his feet, and neatly finished to give his side a 3-1 lead.

As the 83rd minute came, Zamalek had a corner, and Mohamed Koffi found the back of a net with a well struck header to make it 4-1.

Just when everyone thought the game was over, there was a final goal that Khaled Kamar, who scored earlier, gave to Zamalek in the 90th minute. After a mix up in the box, Kamar was one-on-one with the keeper, and neatly chipped the ball over to make it 5-1.

Zamalek are now top of the table with 69 points, and are set to play against El-Gouna in their next game on Monday.
