Zakaria: Al Ahly can’t be compared to other Egyptian clubs
Al Ahly midfielder Momen Zakaria said that Al Ahly couldn’t be compared to any other club in Egypt, asserting that stability is what distinguishes the Red Castle from the rest of the clubs.
Zakaria rejoined his boyhood club from ENPPI in the January transfer window after ending his loan spell with achrivals Zamalek.
“I can’t see a club in Egypt as Al Ahly. There is a huge difference between playing in Al Ahly and playing in any other club in Egypt,” Zakaria said.
“My goal is to win all the championships with Al Ahly,” he added.
The former Zamalek player said that having played in Al Ahly and Zamalek, he can find that there is a difference between both clubs.
“Throughout the history, Al Ahly have been known for their managerial stability. Zamalek started to be stable in the recent period only. This is the difference,” Zakaria said.
The 27-year-old said that it would be hard for him to play for the White Knights again.
“Since I left Al Ahly, I played at five teams in the period of five years until I returned to Al Ahly again…I attained my ambition; I wanted to play in Al Ahly’s first team and I did that,” Zakaria explained.
Zakaria denied that he moved to Al Ahly because of money, saying that Zamalek’s financial offer was much bigger than that of Al Ahly.
The Egyptian international said that he didn’t watch Al Ahly legend Mahmoud El-Khatib but he wishes to reach what Hossam Ghaly and Mohamed Abou-Trika accomplished.
“Abou-Trika is my role model and I am glad that he is still in touch with everybody despite his retirement,” Zakaria concluded.
