In his debut with Ittihad, Egyptian manager Adel Abdel-Rahman led the Saudi side to a 2-2 draw with Al-Khaleej in the ninth round of the Saudi Professional League on Friday.

Ittihad have appointed Abdel-Rahman as their interim manager until the club board finds a new manager, the club announced on their official website on Wednesday.

The former Al Ahly player took over after the club sacked László Bölöni following the humiliating 3-0 loss to Al Ahli in the Jeddah derby.

Abdel-Rahman is originally the manager of the olympic team at Ittihad and was previously a senior coach at Al Ahly and ENPPI youth academies in Egypt.

Ittihad was interested in acquiring the services of the former Zamalek manager Jesualdo Ferriera before losing him to Qatari side Al-Sadd.
