Mohamed Abdel-Shafy played the full 90 minutes as Al Ahli Jeddah defeated league leaders Al Hilal in the 11th fixture of the Saudi Professional League.

The Egyptian international played a crucial role as Al Ahli managed to snatch a 2-1 away win against Al Hilal, extending their unbeaten run to 10 league matches.

Al Ahli managed to spice things up early, as they opened the scoring just 24 minutes into the game. Abdel-Shafy passed the ball to Salman Al-Moasher, then Hussein Al-Mogahwi managed to covert Al-Moasher’s low cross into the back of the net, following a bad interception by Al Hilal’s defense.

Just one minute into the second half, Al Hilal’s Carlos Eduardo scored a fast equalizer after superbly getting past Abdel-Shafy, placing the ball past the goalkeeper.

Mohanad Asiri managed to double the scoreline for the visitors at the 68th minute, after accurately netting in Al-Mogahwi’s perfectly executed long pass into the top right corner.

Both teams failed to produce further goals until the referee blew the final whistle.

Following Al Ahli’s win, they now have 24 points occupying the second league position after Al Hilal who also have 24 points but top the league due to goal difference.

Mohammed Salama is a 20-year-old who fell in love with football since Egypt's AFCON final match against Ivory Coast! Strangely enough an Al Ahly and Al Masry fan locally. In addition, he's a hardcore Bayern Munich supporter.
