After losing in the semi-finals both NAC and MES met in the final day to decide who’ll win bronze. It was a tough match but NAC came on top. MES scored the first goal, no surprise it came through winger Seif Farouk Gafaar but that wasn’t enough as NAC showed true spirit lead by captain Youssef Azzam. Azzam’s men equalized through their on-form striker Adham Abdrabou. Abdrabou hit again in the dying minutes of the game to guarantee their team the win and 3rd place.

These two goals took Abdrabou’s goal tally to 5 goals in 5 matches, also earning him the man-of-the-match award, as well as a place in the tournament’s best 11 players. NAC deserved the win after a great performance from the whole squad especially the likes of Yehia Hamalawy, Bonna, Moataz, Samaha and Youssef “Gigo”.

Final: Alsson 0:3 Manor House

The awaited match was nothing short of entertaining, both teams showed real character throughout the tournament. Alsson had a chance to go up first, hitting the post from a corner, with Yassin’s rebound cleared off the line by the defender. Zamalek midfielder Karim Amr ‘Kikko’ [pictured above] started running the show soon after as he scored twice from the spot. The first penalty came after Manor House striker Wally ‘Aguero’ was tripped inside of the box with the Zamalek youngster making no mistake from the spot.

Kikko successfully scored the second penalty after Aguero sent player-of-the-tournament Mohamed Yehia Debes clear on goal but Alsson’s keeper Hazem Osman fouled Debes and was subsequently sent off by international referee Samir Mahmoud Osman.

Playing one man short, Ibrahim Yassin’s Alsson conceded a third goal through Debes who was sent through on goal via a superb through ball from Zamalek’s Kikko. Debes made no mistake and put the ball into the back of the net.

Bench your best player and you’re asking for criticism. The shock of the day came as EBIS manager chose to bench his best player, the tournament’s best and the team’s top scorer Batool El-Gebaly for the final. Top scorer Aicha had managed to put Alsson up but all chances from the opposition were not fruitful. Despite calls from the fans for majority of the match for EBIS’ manager to bring on Batool, the boss kept his stance and his team went on to lose the final.
