Mortada: McLeish nearing Zamalek move


Mortada Mansour has announced that ex-Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish could Zamalek ‘very soon’.

The Whites’ club president revealed that he has reached a primary agreement with renowned Scottish boss Alex Mcleish, who last coached Belgian side Genk.

“McLeish will be appointed accordingly along with a tactical analyst and a fitness coach,” Mansour stated. “Mcleish will arive in two days’ time.”

It has been reported that during the meeting which occurred between Zamalek’s board of directors and Alex McLeish, they also discussed the former’s characteristics – however, the Scottish manager mentioned that he can deal with anyone in a professional manner.

If the deal falls through, McLeish will hope to emulate fellow conutryman Dave Mackay, who led Zamalek to back-to-back league trophies in 1991/92 and 1992/93.

It is also worth mentioning that Zamalek offered McLeish his staff a total of $900,000 annually.
