Egypt assistant Mahmoud Fayez: Morsy’s only problem is not speaking Arabic
Hector Cuper and Mahmoud Fayez met with Sam Morsy last week in Wigan, and Fayez discussed the details of the visit in a televised interview on Tuesday.
Fayez started his comments by highlighting the ‘only problem’ Morsy faces with the national team: “Morsy’s only problem is not speaking Arabic, but his brother is an Arabic teacher in London and he should be able to help him with that.”

Fayez went on to explain that they asked Wigan’s officials about the player’s discipline outside the pitch in addition to his technical abilities on the pitch: “Hector Cuper made sure that he is well-disciplined; he spoke with Wigan’s coaches and officials about that and he made sure of it.”
“On the technical side, he is an enthusiastic player and a leader inside the pitch, much like Ghaly and Elneny.”
The Egypt assistant coach went on to explain that they have been following the player for a while: “We have been following Morsy for six months; he started 24 matches in a competitive league in Europe, which proves his excellent abilities.”
Fayez concluded his comments by stating the national team’s plans for the player going forward: “We are working on sorting out the player’s papers and passport, he should be ready for our training camp in August. We would like to see how he adapts with the team.”
