Al Ahly call off training session after fan invasion


Al Ahly were forced to cancel their training session today as fans stormed the pitch.

The Red Devils technical staff led my Martin Jol were forced to cancel the team’s training session at the Mokhtar El-Tetch stadium because of a fan invasion.

Thousands of fans gathered at the stands to watch the players train, but were forced to move into the tracks and later on the pitch due to overcrowding.

Security failed to contain the situation with the players being trapped amid crowds, so the technical staff took the decision to cancel the practice after 20 minutes.

The ‘Ultras Ahlawy’ attended the training session to support the team before their sides big match against Ismaily, which is scheduled for next Friday.

The Ultras decided to attend after after they witness Al Ahly lose two consecutive games, which is a rarity for the side.

Ahly’s first loss was at the hands of Al Masry in the Egyptian league, whilst the second defeat was against Zambian outfit ZESCO United during the CAF Champions league group opener which ended 3-2.
