Juventus have beaten AC Milan to the signing of Moroccan defender from .

Juventus have completed the signing of Medhi Benatia, the club announced on their official website. The Moroccan defender has joined the Italian champions from Bayern Munich on a reported €3 million season-long loan, with an option to buy for €17 million.

According to reports, the 29-year-old turned down an offer from AC Milan in favour of a move to the Turin club.

Benatia returns to , where he starred for AS Roma during the 2013/14 season. He left for Bayern Munich as one of the most sought after defenders in the world. Injuries have, unfortunately, stymied his progress in Germany.

He becomes Juventus’ third high profile acquisition of the summer, having already signed Miralem Pjanic and Dani Alves from Roma and Barcelona respectively.

I have dedicated part of my time in this bad world to following African football. From CECAFA to WAFU, COSAFA to UNAF & even the forgotten UNIFFAC.
